We’re excited to share that VIGIMARE and MARCONNECT are exploring synergies between our two Horizon Europe projects and the potential is significant.
VIGIMARE (Grant #101168016) is building a Virtual Control Room for real-time situational awareness over submarine critical infrastructure cables, gas pipelines, and power lines using AI-driven anomaly detection, satellite data, underwater sensors, and AIS. The project unites 19 partners across 8 countries and is live with demonstrations in the Mediterranean, the Baltic Sea, and the Irish Sea.
MARCONNECT (Grant #101225772) is developing a vessel-connected services ecosystem that turns civilian ships into active nodes of Europe’s maritime safety network integrating sensor data with Coast Guard systems for enhanced security.
Where we connect
🛰️Data fusion: MARCONNECT’s civilian vessel sensor feeds could enrich VIGIMARE’s Virtual Control Room with a broader, real-time picture of maritime traffic near critical infrastructure.
🔗Shared interoperability goals: both projects are built to integrate with EMSA, Frontex, and existing EU maritime safety architectures.
🤝Common technology: SIMAVI (MARCONNECT coordinator) is already a partner in VIGIMARE, creating a natural bridge between the two consortia.
📡Complementary coverage: VIGIMARE focuses on fixed submarine infrastructure; MARCONNECT adds dynamic vessel-layer awareness. Together they offer a more complete operational picture.
We believe that connecting these two ecosystems could meaningfully strengthen Europe’s capacity to detect, deter, and respond to threats in its maritime domain, both above and below the waterline.
We look forward to sharing more as this collaboration develops.
