As part of the #MARCONNECT consortium, we’re proud to introduce ICCS, the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems, a non-profit academic research body established in 1989 by the Greek Ministry of Education, closely associated with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
One of the top three research institutions in Greece, ICCS employs over 800 researchers across more than 50 labs and research groups, covering telecommunications, AI, radar, computer systems, cybersecurity, and intelligent transportation systems. They have participated in and coordinated well over 150 EU-funded research projects, including RANGER, EFFECTOR, and ANDROMEDA, several of which focused directly on maritime surveillance and border security.
In MARCONNECT, ICCS leads the use-case testing and iterative ecosystem development, driving the real-world validation of the vessel-connected services across multiple European maritime regions. They also lead the development of innovative third-party services for vessel owners. 🔬🌊
